4 v 3 Defense - Shifting to Cover Overlap
This drill is a simple awareness, communication, and action drill. As the attackers move the ball from one wing to the other wing, the defenders must track the ball and shift across as a unit to eliminate the overlap.
The shifting as a unit is important. Failing to shift as an entire unit will result in gaps in the middle of the defensive line.
Key points:
Recognize overlap
Communicate shift to fellow defenders
Defenders shift as unit to prevent gaps in the middle
