Tackling

Tackling

Tackling is a fundamental defensive skill every rugby player must execute with confidence and competence.  The successful defensive system relies on its players making their tackles.  In order for the players to operate within in a defensive system, the players must have confidence that their teammates next to them can competently execute a tackle and bring down the attacker within his/her zone of responsibility.

The tackle can be made from various angles - side, front, back.  Consequently, the rugby player must be able to safely and competently execute each of these tackles.

The basic principles of each tackle remain the same.  Please have a look below at The Tackle: Step-by-Step for details.
