Ball Handling

Ball Handling

Good ball handling skills are fundamental to the success of any rugby player. In the modern game, all players regardless of position must be able to  pass, catch, move with ball in hand, and maintain possession at contact.

To begin with, the player must become familiar with the rugby ball's basic qualities, i.e. shape, size, and feel.  Although the ball may come at the player from all angles, heights, and speeds, the player must be familiar enough with the ball to adjust; thereby maximizing his/her chance of maintaining control of the ball.

Here are some drills to improve handling.
