Mini-Unit Defense
Like the Mini-Unit Attack section, this section is devoted to developing players ability to defend in groups of 2 and up. In 7's, we will work in units of 3 players as I find that to be a manageable number for communication and effectiveness.
The group of three comprises of the defender who is marking the ball carrier along with the two defenders to either side of him/her. As the ball moves down the attacking line, the units of three shift with the ball. If an overlap exists, the defenders MUST shift to account for the overlap.
When the ball is on the wing, the third defender is the touchline (sideline).
